TELEVISION & FILM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

New and prospective artists and actors have lots of questions so we have tried to help by giving you advice and answering the questions most frequently asked. However, if you would like any more advice and information please just give us a call, 0871 2227470, and request a full colour brochure and information pack.

Q. I want to be in films and on television. What do you look for?

A. There is no stereotype of look for film & television. We represent a variety of ages, looks and nationalities as we cover all aspects of film & television work, for example, a film set in the 1850's would have artists with a different look to film's set in the sixties! We supply crowd artists, background artists, extras, supporting artists, walk-ons, featured and main part actors for films, television programmes and commercials.

Q. If I joined EuroKids & EKA - Where does the work take place?

A. The majority of the work is based in the North West and Midlands although we have artists and actors working around the UK and Worldwide.

Q. Do I get travel expenses?

A. This depends on the location of the filming. When the filming is in the North West usually no expenses are paid. If the filming is further afield in the UK the agency will negotiate expenses, if applicable, on your behalf. When working out of the UK expenses are paid by the client.

Q. What is involved in being an 'Extra' for television or film?

A. Our TV & Film Casting Agents receive daily briefs from the television/film studios. If you have been short listed we will contact you to check your availability. (Don't worry if you cannot attend this job, we will contact you again for the next one!)

If you are selected for the filming then our Agents will give you all the details and advice on what happens, e.g.: time, location, what to wear etc. A number of extras and supporting artists usually work together on a programme or film, which is not only good fun, but also a great way of making new friends and contacts. The huge plus to extra & supporting artist work is that you often get to work with a famous face or two as our artists found out working on 'Alfie' with Jude Law!

Q. I am 57 years old. Am I too old to become a television & film extra?

A. Certainly not, our advice is just look at the background extras and supporting artists on every television programme and feature film and you will see that this type of work is for all ages! Our Extras Department, EUROXTRAS, is keeping not only our children's acting division very busy but our seniors too!

Q. I want to do television and film work part-time or to fit around school, is this possible?

A. Yes. If we offer you any filming that does not fit into your schedule you have the right to refuse them and only choose the filming that is suitable for you.

Q. I understand that children have to be licensed to do work. How do I licence my child?

A. You don't. EuroKids has their own licensing department and is a member of the National Network for Children in Employment and Entertainment. We attend meetings to liase with the authorities on issues relating to child employment legislation.

Our licensing department applies for your child's licence on your behalf as part of the service. All children, from birth to school leaving age must have a licence issued by the Educational Welfare Department within their Local Borough Council.

Q. How do I make sure that you are the right agency for me?

A. Many of our film & television actors, supporting artists and extras join on recommendations from someone they know or from one of our clients, what better recommendation! We also try to ensure that you know all about our agency through our web site and the extensive information and advice pack that we send to prospective models and actors. This includes our client list and features photographs and press releases of our models and actors in action. Our clients include major television companies and photographic studios so this should put your mind at ease that we are a reputable agency!

Is there a charge when joining EuroKids & EKA Agency?

A. In order for you to become a Actor, Extra or Supporting Artist you need photographs and representation either by Website, Catalogues, CV's, Comp Cards etc and of course, the dedication of your Casting Agent! All agencies charge differently and our costs are in the information and advice pack that we would be delighted to send to you.
